SHERIFF SHANE FISHER
Sheriff Shane Fisher assumed the office of Wayne County Sheriff on September 1, 2018. He received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Bethel University graduating Magna Cum Laude. He began his law enforcement career at the Wayne County Sheriff's Office in 1994 and served in various roles within the Sheriff's Office including K9 officer, Sergeant, Investigator, and Investigations Supervisor.
Sheriff Fisher is responsible for the largest methamphetamine seizure in Wayne County's history. He is the only Tennessee resident to have been honored with receiving the coveted Royal Knight designation and the Robbie Bishop Award from American Public Safety for his efforts in highway criminal interdiction while working with the Drug Task Force. Sheriff Fisher has also been awarded the Tennessee Interdiction Officer of the Year three times by the Tennessee Narcotics Officers Association. He is also a certified instructor for the El Paso Intelligence Center and Drug Interdiction Assistance Program and has trained thousands of officers across the United States.
Sheriff Fisher considers drug enforcement a priority and will utilize his experience to aggressively pursue those responsible for contributing to the illegal drug epidemic plaguing Wayne County. Sheriff Fisher and his staff are available to assist civic organizations, schools, and churches with programs to assist in public safety, drug awareness and prevention, and other matters related to law enforcement.
