In an alleged incident of an infant being tragically and intentionally injured, Daniel Steven Devers, age 24, of Collinwood was arrested on Friday, February 26th on one charge of aggravated child abuse. According to the police report, on Wednesday, February 24th, Devers struck the victim, an 8-month-old infant, in the back of the head. The force of the hit allegedly caused several fractures to the back and side of the infant’s skull, along with bleeding on the brain. The child was transported to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville for treatment of his injuries. Devers is being held in the Wayne County Jail on $750,000.00 bond.

 

      In an unrelated incident, Kevin Eric Duck, age 29, of Parsons was arrested on Monday, February 22nd on charges stemming from an alleged incident on February 21st. According to the report, Duck drove to the residence of Howard Russell in Wayne County on February 21st, where Russell confronted Duck about stealing money from him. The report states that when Russell asked Duck about the money, Duck hit Russell in the jaw and then pushed Russell’s pregnant girlfriend, Jomana Prater, to the ground. Duck was subsequently charged with two counts of assault, driving on a suspended license, and theft over $1000.00, after admitting to the theft of the money. Duck was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $57,500.00 bond.

 

 

 

OPERATION GLACIER NETS SIX MORE ARRESTS

 

 

 

     On Monday, February 29th, Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested six more individuals in connection with the ongoing “Operation Glacier” drug operation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office. These six individuals were arrested on capiases issued from indictments handed down by the Wayne County Grand Jury on Monday, February 22nd.

 

     Kevin Wayne Franks, age 46, of Waynesboro was arrested on one charge of sale of schedule II drugs (methamphetamine). Franks was booked into the Wayne County jail on $50,000.00 bond.

 

     Heather Ann Olive, age 42, of Waynesboro was arrested on one charge of criminal responsibility for felony sale of methamphetamine. She was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $50,000.00 bond.

 

     Steven Rich, age 29, of Collinwood was charged with two counts of sale of schedule II drugs (methamphetamine) and one count of sale of schedule VI drugs. He was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $100,000.00 bond.

 

     Marty Wayne South, age 37, of Cypress Inn was arrested on one count of sale of schedule II drugs. He was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $50,000.00 bond.

 

     Jewell Ann Whitehead, age 61, of Waynesboro was charged with one count of sale of schedule II drugs and two counts of sale of schedule IV drugs. She was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $75,000.00 bond.

 

     Larry Wade Whitehead, age 62, of Waynesboro was charged with nine counts of sale of schedule II drugs and two counts of possession of a weapon. He was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $200,000.00 bond.

 

     Sheriff Ric Wilson stated that there have been a total of 73 indictments handed down by the Wayne County Grand Jury in connection with Operation Glacier so far. There have been 36 arrests made on these indictments, and more are expected in the near future.

 

 

 

     Operation Glacier, an ongoing drug investigation conducted by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, has netted another arrest from an indictment handed down by the Wayne County Grand Jury. Derrick Dwight Thompson, age 26, of Iron City was arrested on Wednesday, March 2nd on a Grand Jury capias indicting Thompson on one charge of sale of schedule II drugs (methamphetamine). Thompson was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $50,000.00 bond.

 

     Two additional arrests were made in unrelated incidents of drug possession and a revoked driver’s license. On Sunday, March 6th, Trooper T. Prater was assisting the Tennessee Department of Corrections with vehicle searches on state property at the Turney Center Annex. Unique Mounta Williams, age 31, of Nashville, TN was arrested on two counts of drug possession after officers allegedly discovered Hydrocodone pills and cocaine in her vehicle. Williams was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $125,000.00 bond.

 

     Todd Michael Sanborn, age 48, of Clifton was arrested on Friday, March 4th on his fourth charge of driving on a revoked license. The report states that Inv. Steve Wilson of the Clifton Police Department observed Sanborn speeding and not wearing a seatbelt. When Sanborn was pulled over, Inv. Wilson discovered that Sanborn’s license had been revoked since 2011, and he has been charged three previous times for driving on a revoked license. Sanborn was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $10,000.00 bond.

 

     Gregory Allen Beaudette, age 47, of Waynesboro was arrested on Tuesday, March 8th on charges of domestic assault, contempt of court, and violation of probation. According to the arrest report, officers were called to the residence of Beaudette’s ex-wife Julie Beaudette on Valley Road. Upon their arrival, officers found Julie Beaudette visibly upset, and she stated that when she allowed Gregory Beaudette into the home to visit his children, he immediately began yelling and cursing at her. The report states that Gregory Beaudette then began to wrestle with Julie, and when another individual who was present got between them, Beaudette then fled into the woods to avoid arrest. When Beaudette was apprehended by officers, it was discovered that there was an active temporary protection order in place stating that he is not to be in contact with his ex-wife. Gregory Beaudette was booked into the Wayne County Jail and is being held without bond.

 

     Shelly Renae Adams, age 47, of Selmer, TN was arrested on Thursday, March 10th on one count of filing a false report. The arrest report states that on Monday, February 22nd, Adams filed a police report stating that she had been kidnapped. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Adams had not actually been kidnapped. She was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $10,000.00 bond.

 

     On Friday, March 11th, Garvis Glen Smotherman, age 52, of Waynesboro was arrested on one count of retaliation for past action. According to the report, on Wednesday, March 2nd, Smotherman encountered Susan Franks at Little Star Market and threatened physical violence against her. The report states that Franks is a social services case worker, and has been involved in the removal of Smotherman’s children from his home on several occasions. Smotherman allegedly cursed Franks and threatened her, and Franks told officers that she was in great fear for her life. Smotherman was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $10,000.00 bond.

 

     Edwin Daniel, age 51, of Iron City was arrested on Saturday, March 12th on one count of child endangerment and two counts of domestic assault. The arrest report states that on that day, Deputy Jim Green was dispatched to a residence at 2105 Chisholm Road on a call of a possible domestic situation in progress. Upon Deputy Green’s arrival, he stated that Daniel had obviously been in some type of physical altercation. Daniel allegedly admitted to Deputy Green that he had hit his adult son Evan Daniel after his son had cursed at him. Also present in the home at the time were Evan Daniel’s girlfriend Justine Williamson, her 23-month-old child, and Edwin Daniel’s wife Sherry Daniel. Edwin Daniel stated that the four other people in the home had gone into a bedroom and held the door to try to keep him out, at which time he allegedly kicked the door off its hinges. After the door was kicked down, the report states that Sherry Daniel fled into another room with the baby, and Edwin Daniel pursued her and punched her in the chin while she was holding the baby. Edwin Daniel was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $15,000.00 bond.

 

     Daniel Lynn Prater, age 36, of Clifton was arrested on Monday, March 14th on charges of theft of property over $1000 and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. The arrest report states that Prater took a 2002 GMC pickup belonging to Miranda Bannon, Alex Bannon, and Jeanette Lakaits from Riverwood Apartments in Clifton. Prater allegedly failed to return the vehicle to its owners, and it was later found abandoned in Hardin County. Prater also allegedly stole approximately $1,200.00 worth of items from the vehicle, including CDs and a stereo amp. Prater was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $27,500.00 bond.
