Benjamin Dee Brewer, age 46, of Waynesboro was arrested on Friday, January 1st on charges of public intoxication, resisting arrest, and aggravated assault. According to the report,  officers responded to a call at 632 South Main Street in Waynesboro where the resident, Stephen Stutts, claimed that Brewer had sent him threatening text messages and then shown up at his home threatening him with a knife. Brewer had reportedly left the residence on a bicycle, and was located by officers riding his bicycle on Helton Street. Upon stopping Brewer, officers allegedly noticed a strong odor of alchohol, and Brewer was unsteady on his feet. Brewer allegedly resisted officers when they tried to place him under arrest, and had to be taken to the ground by force. Brewer was evaluated for injuries at Wayne Medical Center and released. He was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $51,500.00 bond.

 

     Thomas Harry Mitchell Jr., age 53, of Waynesboro was arrested on Saturday, January 2nd on one charge of aggravated domestic assault. The report states that Officer Jacob Davis of the Waynesboro Police Department responded to a call at 109 J.W. Ray Drive, where Thomas Mitchell Sr. stated that Thomas Mitchell Jr. had been drinking, and struck him in the head and hand with a wooden club. Mitchell Jr. also allegedly threatened to stab Mitchell Sr. with a pair of scissors. Mitchell Jr. was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $50,000.00 bond.

 

     Also on Saturday, January 2nd, Warren June Strait, age 65, of Iron City was arrested on unrelated domestic assault charges. According to the report, Deputy James Newcomb of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 3325 George Olive Road in Iron City in response to a 911 call. Upon arriving at the scene, both Strait and his wife Judy told Deputy Newcomb that they had been arguing over a lost billfold. Mrs. Strait alleged that Mr. Strait threatened her by pointing a gun at her, hiding the telephones so she could not call for help, and blocking the door to keep her from getting out of the home. Strait was charged with aggravated domestic assault and interference with emergency communications, and was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $57,500.00 bond.

 

     Joshua Randall Joe Keeton, age 27, of Cypress Inn was arrested on Sunday, January 3rd on various assault charges. The report states that Deputy Michael Byrd of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 9400 May Branch Road in Cypress Inn in regard to a domestic in progress. According to the report, homeowner Julie Venturi was at home with her sons, ages 18 and 16, and another juvenile, age 16, when Keeton entered the home and began arguing with one of the juveniles. Allegedly, the argument escalated and became physical, with Keeton assaulting all three young men who were present. Keeton was charged with two charges of domestic assault, one charge of assault, and one charge of child abuse. He was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $10,000.00 bond.

 

     Danny Neal Caperton, age 36, of Collinwood was arrested on Tuesday, January 5th on one charge of aggravated domestic assault. According to the report, Deputy Dale Palmer of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 6081 Caperton Hollow Road. Upon arriving at the scene, Deputy Palmer discovered that Caperton had assaulted his wife Katrina, causing very serious bodily injury which required medical attention. Caperton also allegedly fired shots from an unknown firearm while his wife fled the scene during the assault. Caperton was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $50,000.00 bond.

 

     Bonnie Devers, age 69, of Waynesboro was arrested on Friday, January 8th. The report states that on Saturday, November 7th, Devers entered Fred’s Dollar Store holding a small bag and her purse. Video surveillance from the store allegedly showed footage of Devers obtaining two small heaters after entering the store and then attempting to return the heaters to receive a refund. Devers was issued a gift card for $31.92, the value of the two heaters, because she was not able to provide a receipt. Devers was charged with one count of theft of merchandise.

 

     Devers was also charged with one count of sale of schedule II narcotics, according to a capias issued by the Grand Jury. Devers was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $22,500.00 bond.

     Victor Jerome Carver, age 28, of Collinwood was arrested on Thursday, January 21st. The report states that on Tuesday, January 19th, Deputy Dale Palmer was attempting to serve a warrant on Carver for violation of probation when he located Carver at Little Sis’s Market in Collinwood. Carver allegedly fled from Deputy Palmer in a 2001 Lexus, and Deputy Palmer initiated a chase of Carver down Middle Butler Road, Buford Robertson Road, and Last Butler Road. Deputy Palmer terminated the chase on Last Butler Road, but warrants for Carver were issued on charges of driving on revoked 5th offense and felony evading arrest in a motor vehicle. Carver was booked into Wayne County Jail two days later on these two charges on a $20,000.00 bond. After being booked into the jail, on Friday, January 22nd, the report states that Carver intentionally broke a water sprinkler head in his cell with his shoe, causing flooding in the booking office. Carver was charged at that time with vandalism over $500.00, and an additional bond amount of $2,500.00 was imposed.

 

     Jacob Paul Biller, age 23, of Cypress Inn was arrested on Tuesday, January 19th on a charge of aggravated domestic assault. According to the report, on Sunday, January 10th, Biller did hold his mother, Linda Biller, against her will with a knife and axe handle, and allegedly threatened to kill her. Ms. Biller stated that she was in fear for her life and did believe that her son would kill her. Biller was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $50,000.00 bond. 

 

    

On Tuesday, January 19th, officers arrested Sheryl Ann Devers, age 45, of Collinwood. According to the report, deputies were dispatched to a residence at 6400 Rayburn Creek Road, and found Daniel Devers at a neighbor’s home being treated by EMS. Daniel Devers told officers that he had been struck by a vehicle driven by his aunt, Sheryl Devers. Officers investigated the area where the alleged incident took place, and discovered marks on the roadway indicating where the vehicle left the roadway and struck Devers. Sheryl Devers was arrested on one count of aggravated domestic assault, and was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $50,000.00 bond.
