After receiving numerous complaints from the citizens of Clifton, the Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation of establishments throughout the county and found some suspicious activity at the Cross-eyed Cricket at 509 East Walter St. in Clifton.  Underage confidential informants were sent into the establishment numerous times to see if they would be able to purchase alcohol.  Each time, CI’s were sold the alcohol without even having their ID’s checked.  The following were employees at the Cross-eyed Cricket and were arrested for selling alcohol to minors.

 

      Marala Mae Irwin, 50 of Clifton was arrested on Friday Nov. 7, 2014 for selling alcoholic beverages to undercover CI’s who were under the age of 21 and working with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.  The first incident was on April 16, 2014 and the second on September 17, 2014.

 

     Sandeep Raghu Suverna, 30 of Lewisburg was arrested on Nov. 6, 2014 for selling alcoholic beverages to undercover, underage CI’s.  The first incident occurred on April 16, 2014 and the second on September 4, 2014.

Both employees were booked onto Wayne County Jail on a $5,000.00 bond.
